Our Story
A little girl named Harlowwho taught us hope.
This is a story about a miracle, an impossible diagnosis, and a family who chose love over fear — and, in doing so, began building hope for other families walking the same road.
Chapter One
A miracle before she was even born.
For years, Kristen and Brad tried to have children. Doctors had given them only a five percent chance of conceiving naturally. When Harlow arrived in April 2022, she was already a miracle — a soft, warm answer to every prayer and every quiet ache.
There is no way to describe the first moments of holding a baby you thought you might never meet. It felt, to them, like the whole world had held its breath and, at last, exhaled.
Chapter Two
Within twenty-four hours, everything changed.
Doctors discovered Harlow had suffered a devastating stroke in the last weeks of pregnancy. Severe hydrocephalus. Extensive brain damage. A prognosis of only six to nine months to live.
Kristen and Brad were given two impossible paths: continue aggressive medical intervention with surgeries and life support — or bring Harlow home, where every remaining day could be spent surrounded by love.
Chapter Three
They chose home.They chose memories.They chose family.
It wasn't a choice to give up. It was a choice to be fully, completely present — to fill whatever time they had with laughter and love.
Chapter Four
She exceeded every expectation.
She smiled. She laughed. She learned to communicate.
She received her wheelchair. She surprised neurologists. She inspired thousands of people.
She taught everyone around her what hope truly means — that hope is not a feeling, but a way of showing up for the people you love.
A Reflection from the Founders

Anticipatory grief settles in, eventually giving way to the grief of loss. And through it all, family, bills, and everyday responsibilities don’t stop—even as you’re trying to navigate the weight of what’s ahead.
We want to bless other families in the same way we have been blessed. Our story is still being written, and our hope is that other “Harlow’s Angels” can experience that same love, support, and grace along the way.

Chapter Five
And then they realized they weren't alone.
Because of everything they experienced, Brad and Kristen realized another heartbreaking truth: there are countless families bringing children home on hospice care who receive very little support.
Most assistance focuses on the child. Very little exists for the parents. Even less exists for siblings. Families still have mortgages. Utility bills. Car payments. Housekeeping. Yard work. Daily responsibilities that continue while parents are simply trying to cherish every remaining moment.
That realization became Harlow's Hope.

Harlow Is Born
A miracle arrives.
After years of hoping and only a five percent chance of conceiving naturally, Kristen and Brad welcomed Harlow into the world. Within 24 hours, their lives would change in ways they could never have imagined.
April 24, 2022
Everything Changes
An impossible diagnosis.
Within 24 hours of Harlow's birth, doctors discovered that she had suffered a devastating stroke late in pregnancy, resulting in severe hydrocephalus and extensive brain damage. Kristen and Brad were told she might have only six to nine months to live.

Coming Home
They chose home.
Faced with impossible choices, Kristen and Brad chose to bring Harlow home on hospice care—to surround her with family, love, and as many memories as time would allow.

Neurosurgery
Another chapter of courage.
Harlow underwent an Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV), a neurosurgical procedure to help manage her hydrocephalus. It became another significant milestone in a journey already filled with uncertainty, resilience, and hope.
December 13, 2023
Graduating From Hospice
A milestone no one expected.
Harlow continued to exceed expectations. On December 13, 2023, she graduated from hospice care and transitioned to palliative care—a milestone that once seemed unimaginable.

Returning Home
Back home, surrounded by love.
After spending a week in the hospital, Harlow returned home on hospice care. Once again, Kristen and Brad found themselves navigating the uncertainty of what comes next while focusing on what has always mattered most: being together.

Her Story Is Still Being Written
And Harlow's Hope begins.
Through every unexpected milestone, difficult season, and ordinary miracle, Harlow's journey revealed how much families walking this road need support. Kristen and Brad created Harlow's Hope so other families bringing a child home on hospice care don't have to carry the weight alone.
